  • History
    • Jim-Ree African American Museum, Inc. (JAAM) was founded in 1995 by Jimmy O. White. JAAM began as a month long display during February Black History Month Celebration and grew into the idea of a year long display. After 13 years of itinerant exhibits and programs, in 2007 JAAM secured a home through a 50 year lease of the Historic Elbert County Jail from the Elbert County Commissioners, Georgia. JAAM is in the process of raising capital funds and rehabilitating the site.
  • Mission
    • JAAM is dedicated to the identification, preservation and renewal of African American history and culture. JAAM's goal is to educate people about both the contributions of African Americans in the area and the impact of African Americans on the nation and the world. Through its seminars, exhibitions and special programs, JAAM will cultivate an appreciation for the cultural heritage and achievements of African Americans.
